Small Group Training For Competitive Athletes

Every athlete remembers the moment they got faster.

Speed, strength and conditioning for competitive athletes from every sport—professionally coached and backed by sport science.

Our Small Group Training program builds the physical qualities every sport demands: speed, strength, power, coordination and conditioning. Sessions are led by trained Strength and Conditioning Coaches at the Speed Training Lab + High Performance Centre® in Vaughan. Every session is planned and coached—not a circuit class or open gym.

WHAT ATHLETES WORK ON

Every athlete’s training is matched to their age, ability and experience, then progressed from there.

  • Acceleration and sprint mechanics
  • Strength and power
  • Agility and change of direction
  • Plyometrics and landing mechanics
  • Mobility, stability and coordination
  • Conditioning for repeated high-intensity efforts

Athletes train in a small group, but no one gets lost in it — coaches are watching, correcting and adjusting every session.

BUILT FOR ATHLETES AT EVERY LEVEL

Small Group Training works for athletes of all ages and competitive levels—from those beginning structured performance training to club, provincial, collegiate and professional athletes. Coaches adjust exercises, resistance and volume to meet each athlete where they are, using motorized and non-motorized treadmills, strength equipment and performance-testing technology to monitor technique, intensity and progress.

BACKED BY REAL RESEARCH

Every coach on our floor holds a college or university background in Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Fitness and Health Promotion, or Personal Training, and is trained in our Speed Training Exercise Protocol — developed by Dr. Richard Bucciarelli, PhD, who has spent 15 years conducting independent and academic research in sport science.

That research guides how we test athletes, train them and support their recovery—not guesswork.

WHY SMALL GROUP TRAINING?

Training next to other athletes working just as hard pushes you — and keeps a coach close enough to catch the small things before they become habits. Athletes get:

  • Structured, progressive coaching matched to their ability
  • Access to specialized speed and performance equipment
  • A training environment focused on measurable progress
